S2000 Build
I am in the process of buying a 2002 S2000 that is missing most of the engine components and other major items. Would it be a good deal if I can have a finished S2k for around $7500? It would have a engine with new bearings that's being gone through and the body and trans have 130K miles on it with a clean title. I just dont want to be into the car with $$ and time for more than what it will be worth.

Have you shopped to see what 8k will get you as far as a a running S2k?
"Missing mos of the engine" is always a big project and there are always speed bumps. 7.5k can turn into 10k and a big headache quickly if you run into issues.

I mean its missing some of the engine bay components, the engine and trans should be complete. But I'm with you in that I've seen them all over the place as far as priced go. The best one I've seen was a 2000 with a rebuilt engine and trans that was being converted into a track car for $7600.

I paid $7350 for a clean title, all matching numbers car, zero accidents, etc., but it had rust.
With rust repair, I'm at $8500 and the car runs perfectly.

Here's the work it will need.
The Bad
The Bad
- I will need to install the new seats that come with the car including the floor hardware.
- Install seat belts
- Install new steering wheel with airbag
- Install cluster
- Install rear diff, driveshaft and axles (Upgrading to AP2 anyway)
- Install trans and I might as well replace the clutch while I'm at it.
- Install engine and locate other missing items from the bay. I know it has the radiator and a few other items.
- Fix rear glass in softop
- Add AP1 rims and tires as the car does not come with wheels.
- Has nice coil overs
- Body and frame are good with a few chips with surface rust on rear wheel wells
- Interior is in great condition
- Clean title car with 130K miles on the body and factory paint (Sebring Silver Metallic)

How many miles on yours TsuKubaCody? my $7500 is hopefully the most it would cost. I plan on attempting most of the work myself with a service manual and a prayer. I'm hoping my final cost is around $7000.

Totally stock with the exception of K&N intake & an updated stereo with nice components.
