Default Terrible start to 2017

MY04 silverstone has 137k miles & was purchased 9 years ago with a rebuilt title. There are a few dents but even up close you wouldn't know it was a rebuilt title. Only issue is i have the 4 factory top rips so that makes it look worse. I did however just get my robbins replacement top & was planning on having it installed & then hoping to sell car. Well on new years eve I parked it up in the back of an acme parking lot to stay overnight while I went to the nearby bar & took an uber home. A lifted truck happened to park next to me & when he pulled out he just cut it & his rear tire essentially ran over my drivers side fender & ripped off my front bumper. When I got back the next morning I was so pissed. The guy didn't leave a note but thanks to a witness we caught him. The fender was curled under to where it was pinned against the tire leaving it undriveable, There was also a pool of liquid around that drivers side area, I could not determine what it was I didn't inspect it too much, just got it towed to the shop of my choosing where his insurance will take care of it. My question is, seeing how old it is & that it has a rebuilt title would this be enough to total it?

Yes, given the age, mileage, and rebuilt title, it will be totaled for sure.

That is my hope. It would make my situation easier as I believe the car will be hard to sell even with the brand new top.

Question is, if it is totaled. Would it be worth to buy & part out?

why not just buy it back and fix it again? if they write it off they likely won't compensate you enough to go out and buy another S2000... unless you're just trying to get out of the car

Be careful what you wish for. Insurance will always try to find a way to undervalue your car. The rebuilt title is what they will focus on. Be prepared for them to seriously lowball you.

Yes, its very worth buying car back. To repair and drive, or to part out and sell. Its probably the only way for you to make out on this deal.

I need a new car & it as to be something that can seat 4. My days with an S are over for now . They definitely won't compensate me enough for a new car but the question is...what's the difference between what they will give me & what I would get in private sale once it is fixed, top is installed(-$1000), & minus any opportunity cost for trying to get the most money I can for it.

The totaling would be easiest for me to move on & get a new car. I wonder if there would be even more money to be made from buying it back & parting out the good parts I.E. Seats, Doors, hood, truck, engine, trans, diff, sub frams, struts, etc.

By lowball...how low are you thinking? I bought the car for 10k 9 years ago when it had 24k miles... so if I had it fixed & my top installed I would look to get 6k for it. IMO parts alone it's worth that.
