I'd use a decent plastic or rubber protectant. The Shin Etzu for the top seals or whatever you use on your top (303, Raggtopp, etc) should work. The point is to keep them from drying out and cracking.

Few things: in the problems to be aware of for all years, it seems that the most significant problem is a ripped soft top. although you talk about it elsewhere i think it would be a good idea to mention there as well.

also, isn't oil consumption mainly an ap1 problem?

Soft top tears is added. I don't know about AP2 oil burning. Post a link to a thread that shows it's an AP1 specific problem and I'll update that info.
