We could also put a link to the "Is this used S2000 worth it thread...."
Good idea, added that to the beginning of the post.

Not sure if it is in there or not, can't remember and don't want to re-read it.

Evaluate the miles to the car condition. If it has tons of miles expect to see some wear, if something looks to good, it might have been repaired or replaced so make sure. If the car has low miles see if the car would be in the condition you feel it should be, i.e. if it has 15-20k miles you don't want to see faded, ripped top. Tons of dents, really worn carpet, clean engine bay etc... That way you can tell how the car has been treated.

Soft top straps, when lowering the top stand behind the car and see if the top is completely folded down. If not that means the oem straps are wearing out and needs to be changed or it will cause a hole in your top. Simple fix with modifry's straps for $20 which are better then oem

It was in there but I expanded on it based on your post.
  • Is the wear on the steering wheel, pedals, shifter, carpet, seats, etc consistent with the miles on the odometer? This is a good way to confirm that the odometer hasn't been tampered with and can give you an idea of how the owner takes care of the car.
Soft top straps are in the 'after' section in the 2nd post.

Congrats on the new car. There are links to more info for many things on the list. Some of them are fairly involved and you might want to go to a shop if you're not mechanically inclined. Search this site on any of those topics and you'll find tons of info.
