Default dome light

So finally my dome light quit working, i think the switch is worn out (lot of play) and there maybe an internal connection that is dirty, etc...I read where you take it out and clean it, spray some sort of electrical stuff in it and it's supposed to be fine.

I just ordered another one on amazon, checked out a few videos and replaced the whole unit, works like new, cost about $125.00 to my door in a few days...no more fiddling with it, hardest thing was popping off the clear light cover, you approach it from the windshield side with a small regular screw driver, then take a small socket, maybe 8mm and take out two screw type bolts, then unplug one wire...reverse it and it's done, no need to disconnect battery even...just a few min job...

and it's good for another 14years.

We could have saved you $125 -- for future readers, this tutorial and some rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts is all you need:

While you're working on it put LEDs in there. More light, less current draw.

So true, about 1/10 the current for the same light output. You'll especially appreciate less current draw when you leave the lights on by mistake and your battery isn't dead.

thanks, and the switch was worn out, would not stop at any indent, so it was not just a contact issue, and the led's you are talking about it's such a minor thing, i will just pass, as my original bulbs still work and the new one had new bulbs....
yes the contacts were also going out, so a good cleaning would most likely have fixed just that part.
