Default EPS Control Unit or Steering Torque Sensor?

With a steering wheel violently shuddeing frequently, not constantly, and the loss of some power steering as low speeds, especially in colder morning starts, or when the engine is truely cold, I'm thinking that either the EPS modual needs to be replace, or the steering torque sensor needs to be replaced.

I'm with an AP1, '01 model year, with 94K miles on the clock. Is there a way to know which unit is bad? I know my torque sensor is discontinued though Honda, however, I've noticed some flagging the correct part number on Amazon as new units listed in stock.

What should I be doing to correct my issues.?

Mine recently did this and I replaced a few different parts chasing it, finally, I found that one of the terminal pins was pushing out of the Torque Sensor pig tail when I plugged it in. The plastic tab that holds the terminal pin into the pig tail was bad. Luckily, it is a common pig tail, it's the same as the TPS and MAP sensor. Not saying this is your issue, but definitely something worth checking.

Is your EPS light coming on? check the codes that you are getting.
