Is anyone familiar with the electrical circuit for the fuel pump?

My pump failed the other day. The car started then just died and I couldn't start it again.

I checked the fuel rail and it had no pressure.

I checked the Fuel Pump fuse and it was fine.

I checked pin A15 from the ECU and it had +12V.

So then I pulled apart the back of my car to find that I don't have 12V at the connector to the fuel pump.

I assume there is a relay somewhere triggered by A15.

Anyone know where this relay is?

It goes from the ECU to C404 and then to the PGM-FI Main Relay. It goes in on Pin 1 and Out on pin 4 back through C401 and then to the fuel pump

C404 is a light blue connector in the center of three connectors between the steering column and the under dash fuse box. The three sets of connectors close to one another are from left to right gray, light blue, light blue.

C401 is a large 22 pin gray connector located near the floorboard underneath the ECU.

The PGM-FI relay is a brown connector going into a relay box, it is barely visible underneath the nice little vent for your feet that is located under the driverside dash to the right of the steering column

I had the same problem. It was a bad connection at the relay. My relay under the dash, just to the right of the steering shaft. Light blue, I think it was.

Chairman - Did you just reseat it? Or replace the relay?

I was looking at my electronics manual, and thought what the hell, ill give you some good info and pictures, these manuals are so badass

It was just a loose connection. I disconected it and re connected it. works fine now.

Damn, if mine turns out to be the same I've wasted $150 and bunch of time on a new pump!

Check for cracks at the solder joints inside the relay.
