2001 S2000, 145k miles, 99% bone stock.

Rattle sounds like from the HFC area, or near the transmission. The rattle happens mostly on decel, only with the clutch under load of the engine. sometimes it will rattle just as i'm cruising, and sometimes just creeping or turning slowly. It rattles intensely as i downshift and revmatch to a lower gear.
I replaced the HFC with a Berk about 2 months ago, and changed the tranny fluid just the other day, both did nothing to help with the rattle. any ideas?

Sorry for the poor video quality. hard to record the noise without wind and drive at the same time, as it only happens when my car is moving. 29s-35s, then 48-52s for the noise.

Clutch buzz. Harmless, just annoying.

...and the only cure is a new honda friction disk. Not an aftermarket disk. Certainly not an 'oem' disk from Exedy.

Honda modified the friction disk to address the problem. Newer cars came with the updated disk from the factory.

Are you guys sure it's clutch buzz? I have an early MY00 and it makes the same sound right up to the last bit where his car rattles - mine does not.

To the OP, mine buzzes in the lower gears on decel between 2200 and 3500 rpm. Do you hear the same noises, including the rattle, in other gears?

i can hear the noise in gears 1-5. most the time it only rattles under decel, but there are times it'll rattle just as i'm driving along. it rattles the worst though in 2nd and 3rd gear, around 4k deceling to 1.5-2k.

i've looked at the clutch buzz in numerous videos on youtube, but none of them really sound the same. this sounds like metal vibrating and rattling against more metal. or something loose clanging against something spinning.

i bought a new HFC a few months ago, to replace my old one, AND to fix the noise cause i thought that's what it was. when they replaced it, they even said my stock cat was blown, and rattling around like crazy. but the noise still persists after the new one is on there. after listening to the noise more and more, and it happening more and more, it definitely sounds more like it's coming from the tranny/clutch area, maybe even front axle or something..
edit - also want to add in that the rattle is loud enough i have people look at my car from like 2-2 1/2 blocks away as i'm driving around my town. super embarrassing XD

That doesn't sound like clutch buzz imho. As the name suggests clutch buzz is more like a buzz. Yours sounds more like a knock/rattle. Not really sure what it is, maybe inspect the driveshaft to see if it's hitting something.

That is not clutch buzz at all. Unless they changed it to clutch rattles
