Daily driven cars are started at least twice a day and cars running in excess of 200,000 miles without excessive engine wear are the norm. Heck, my cars get started in excess of a dozen some days going to work, lunch, running errands, etc. Even the S2000. Lubrication requires oil moving and it undeniably moves slower with cold and thick. But this "wear" is of very short duration assuming a proper oil. Yeah, there's more wear but it takes laboratory instruments to measure it and it's inconsequential. Critical lubrication is at operating temperatures and the synthetic multi-grades are engineered at the proper grade at that temperature. In the spec 10W-30 the number after the W is critical, the number before can beneficial for cold starts and not affect lube at operating temperatures. Getting the car to operating temperature purges moisture, etc. There's a lot of iron and steel inside that can rust. (Pull the head off your lawn mower in the spring and verify.)

Starting or not starting is our choice. For obscure reasons I tend to follow the engineering recommendations despite knowing what idiots work in Honda engineering. I've used full synthetic 10W-30 exclusively on oil changes but there's no reason to not use 5W-30 or 0W-30 which may help in those few seconds of slow oil flow. Honda also approves 5W-40 for extreme cold.
