He is the first one that comes to mind, isn't he?

I have to believe that Lewis has the right to reject any partner, So after the clash while both were at Mclaren, I'd be shocked.
Half F1 grid is after Rosberg's seat, says Lauda | Sports | Reuters

Lauda says half the field has approached him already.
20 drivers / 2 =10 approached him but of the other 10, 3 had already retired although button is questionable and one is lewis.
which leaves 6 who are happy where they are or more likely don't have his phone number.... yet.

Dave, maybe he wants to try his hand at racing.

Interesting point but I wonder how much he really does have to say about it. In the end it's supposed to be about the team and not the drivers and there have been some pretty strange pairings over the years.
In any event, stay tuned as silly season gets into high gear...!!!

Here's what LH said when asked about Nico's replacement.

.....Asked if he will have a say in who his new teammate is, Hamilton says he does not have the same contractual clauses as the likes of Sebastian Vettel and Fernando Alonso when it comes to driver choices.
.
.

"I've never been a driver to ever request that. I know a lot of the other drivers – Sebastian, Fernando – make sure that is in their contracts. I've just always asked to have equal rights so as long as we're treated fairly it doesn't really matter who is alongside me. We've got great team bosses who I am sure will choose the right people to be represent the brand."
