Dave's was jumping downward;your's is flying upward... most impressive.
And when I go out the door to shoo him (her?) away, he (she) jumps back to the chair arm to dismount!

One summer Matt stretched our 200" garden hose to the clump of trees in the back yard. He rigged it so we could turn the hose on to directly drench the squirrels on the feeder. It was great entertainment!

Are the nesting? The blue jays can be aggressive....Are other "bully birds" keeping the "good birds away?

The most mean birds are blackbirds and grackles. Doves also like to take over. But if you're not seeing that, then it may be the feed. What are you using? Have you changed brands?

Any stray cats hanging around?

Got any hawks perched up in your trees?

Our neighbors have two cats that wander and check out the feeders but they really aren't around that much. Haven't seen any hawks this year but we do have an owl. We buy black oil sun flower seeds and haven't changed brands. I miss my birds.

Only suggestion I have is to give the bird feeder a really good cleaning. The owl should not be an issue.

After having Blue Bird houses on the fence posts on our lot line for 20 years, we finally have Blue Birds nesting in one of them.
