Nice mix of birds on the deck! We can tell snow is coming...bird feeders were quite busy yesterday afternoon. Cardinal, house finch, several gold finch, titmouse, chickadee, juncos, song sparrow....love it!

This AM we had large crow and a large squirrel eating side-by-side for a long time today within 2" of each other like it was normal. I thought it was weird.

I would have expected the crow to attack the squirrel. What was the squirrel thinking?

We have had squirrels get to within a foot or two trying to scare Cooper Hawks away in our backyard.....

Always waiting for the hawk to get one of them pesky, peanut grabbing, rodents with the big bushy tails!

Not a great shot. This Towhee was way too busy digging in the leaves to stand still for second. Still the first one we've seen this year and a sure sign spring is here. It was a high of 36° just two or three days ago and today's high is going to be 68°.

Wow...the eagle pair feeding the one chick, which is several days old. The father just brought a big fat bird and the mother has just finished plucking it and is feeding the chick. The father went away and came back with a fat fish. So there's plenty to eat right now.

Dave, I'm pretty sure we have towhee's here, but I've yet to see one. I'm expecting the Junco's to pack their bags soon (not too soon, maybe a little snow this weekend), and hopefully the goldfinches will soon start sporting a brighter yellow. That will be a sign of spring! The feeders are a bit quiet. Maybe there is some nesting going on??

Rare to see in our backyard......

Walked out this morning into the backyard..... and a red tailed hawk took off from one of our trees. Looked like he had breakfast in his talons.....

We get Cooper and Sharp Shinned hawks in the backyard, but not red tailed ones.

Took me by surprise, so no pics!

We do see the red tailed hawks a couple of miles from our house... but never this close.

We have a Red Tail that occasionally sits in the tree where our feeders are. When it is there all of the birds and squirrels hide.
