St. Patrick's day is next Friday. For this year, since I had a big chunk of brisket leftover from another recipe I decided to "corn" my own beef brisket.
Got all of the goodies cooked up in the brine solution.
now it will marinate in the fridge until Friday.

When we were in SC last weekend, at the River Room in Georgetown we had a fried seafood lunch. I had flounder and the +1 had a combo of flounder, scallops, shrimp and deviled crab. It was one of the best meals we've ever eaten. Really, really good.

The better half wanted an ice cream maker for Xmas which of course I got for her.
Basically a really cold bowl and mixer attachment for our KitchenAid mixer.
She finally got around to using it yesterday.
I have to admit, fresh home made ice cream without all of the stabilizers and gunk and other crap tastes pretty damn good!!

As I read this I can smell the Crock Pot stew from the kitchen. I like to make it because it's so easy . I like to eat it because it is so good. It may be a simple, tried and true type dish but on a chilly evening it hits the spot. Add a dash of red wine shortly before serving to liven it up a bit. Serve with fresh drop biscuits and you are all set.

Well Emil it would have to be an X-ray now, 'cuz it's in ma tummy.
for the record , I didn't actually see her make the ice cream. Apparently I wasn't important enough to come find when she was creating.
but this will give you the idea, and no that's not me.

Made a new vegetable-bean soup in the crockpot that is healthy and delicious - sweet potatoes, cannellini beans, celery, carrots, tomatoes, green beans, vegetable broth and spices. Served with MsP's famous cornbread - the key is adding a small can of creamed corn to the mix. Yum...the +1 could eat soup every day, but I don't make it quite that often. Maybe once every couple of weeks. Also made beef and barley again recently. And chicken gumbo.
