Thanks for tips. My happy hour, when not trying to loss weight, often started at 3PM or at 3:30PM. But, now that I'm on a mission, I've stopped that bad habit.

Plan meals for the day and prep them ahead of time to avoid snacking. If you can have a decent-sized breakfast and then 2 smaller meals across the middle of the day, you'll feel less inclined to snack. When I feel the need to snack on something and I'm not avoiding carbs, my go-to is whole almonds and raisins.

I have never been a big breakfast eater - a bowl of cereal and that's it. Nor, am I a big lunch eater - a bowl of soup or a sandwich and that's it. I'm sure that's why I get the so hungry around 4. Funny, but whole almonds and raisins are my late evening snack! The wife got me going on that because she buys bags of them mixed. So far, my only solution at 4 is to eat raw carrots.

Supposedly, drinking water helps fill you up, whether before eating or at snack time.

I don't know what time you eat breakfast or lunch, but I don't believe the 4: 00 PM munchies are unusual. It's been called "grazing time" too. I eat breakfast at 7:00, lunch at 1:00. If i go home at 4:00 vs going to the Y, it's all I can do to not graze until dinner. Dinner is generally 6:15 or later on Y nights. 6:00 ish on Friday. Eating often and eating smaller portions may help. I too have heard the recommendation to drink water, but I'm just not a water drinker unless I'm exercising. Almonds and raisins are good, but only a handful. Both pretty high in calories I believe. Raw carrots are a good, if boring in the food department choice.

Scaled ticked down a bit by Saturday, but up a bit this AM. I know why those who drink often cut back on that indulgence first when trying to lose weight. Calories in booze! I had ONE Rumchata Martini on Saturday evening. My friend makes all those decadent ones. He also drizzled chocolate sauce into the glass. it was absolutely delicious and I can only imagine the calories in one of these drinks. I wanted a second one, it was so tasty,, but I was the driver. One and done!

^ Lainey your friends are up-scale. With mine, getting a glass with a bottle of beer is living large. I'm sure you're right about the "handful", I tend to just keep going until my jaws get tired.

I'm having a Bud Light right now, that's almost like water - right?

Nope not upscale. There were plenty of beer drinkers (no glasses, just cans) a few wine drinkers and a few having other specialty drinks. Our friend likes to entertain/tend bar when he does.

BTW Rick would agree that Bud Light is almost water. He'd rather drink water than Bud Light. He got to try a new porter at a new local brewery yesterday. He proclaimed it good, but not as good as others that are brewed locally.

Out of work at 4:00 PM. Y class at 6:00 PM. After work snack 1/2 banana handful of Goldfish...Killer class at the Y, dinner was serving of baked scallops with some cracker crumb stuffing and veggies. Two SMALL handfuls of M&M's have been my indulgence. No trips to the candy out in the shop for almost a week.

I should be five pounds lighter by Friday.
