March Madness
Not usually a big fan of basketball, but I like college ball. Last night's game between Xavier and Arizona was incredible. I thought Xavier was done for when they went down by eight with four minutes left. They were cold. But then they got hot and won! They have beaten three teams in the top six. Lots of upsets so far. I'm rooting for my alma mater - North Carolina. They play tonight. My second choice would have been Duke. I dated the manager of the team when I was in college. Hard to say who's gonna be in the final. Kansas is looking really strong. To be cont'd...

For over 30 years, I have run a pool for the tournament. I used to do it for only people I worked with, but then when the internet became available, I expanded it with a web-based entry system and I had folks from all over playing. With a modest entry fee of $10, people could enjoy the games a lot more by following the results. The prizes also made it interesting! Well, this year, I decided it was time to retire. A couple of my fellow retirees volunteered to pick it up, but just for fun, with no entry fee or prizes. I am proud to say that I am guaranteed to be the last-place finisher, due to my crazy picks! No one that I know had picked Xavier, and I have to admit, they looked pretty good last night.
Coming from the heartland of ACC Basketball and attending N. C. State, I have always been a fan of college basketball. In fact, it's the only sport I really follow.
Deb, didn't realize you were a Carolina graduate. Your team has an excellent chance to win it all, I think.

Don't really have a dog (pun intended) in the Men's NCAA, but on the women's side I will be rooting for the Lady Bulldogs of Mississippi State when they take on the Washington Huskys in a Sweet Sixteen matchup. Think Women's basketball is slow and boring? MSU scored 110 against first round opponent Troy, and Washington features Kelsey Plum, who holds the ALL TIME women's basketball scoring record, averaging 31.8 ppg.

The Wisconsin/Florida game was the only nail biter from last night. Great game with Florida pulling out a three-pointer with .2 seconds left to win. NC won pretty easily and will play Kentucky tomorrow. The four games today and tomorrow should be good ones. What teams do you think are going to the final show??

My team (NC) pulled it off, but it was another nail biter! Kentucky gave them a real run for the money.
