Default Vacation Plans 2017

My bro has been bugging us to come out to Phoenix forever. I've been to AZ, and the +1 has, too, but we've not been together. So...to do our usual long weekend in Feb/Mar to a half marathon somewhere for him, I think we may go Presidents Day weekend (Feb 17-20) to visit the western relatives and for him to run this:

We had such a fab time in Canada (and spent a lot of money) this past May, I'm not sure we will do a big trip in 2017. To be determined...I really want to take a paddlewheeler trip along the Mississippi. I've seen a couple of itineraries I like on American Cruise Lines, which has some paddlewheelers. It would be cool to do, plus stop in some Civil War areas the +1 would like.

What will you be doing for vacation fun in 2017?

We go to Naples, Fla every year in the winter. Next year will be our 50th wedding anniversary and we plan to drive to Nova Scotia in Sept. for a week or two. Taking the ferry out of Falmouth, Ma and will be exploring this picturesque part of Canada. Eh.

Take a trip out to Peggy's Cove from Halifax. It's very picturesque.

Since we did the golf trip to Wisconsin and that worked out ok, we might consider a UK trip next year.
The better half wants to go to London and we'd like to do some of the Scottish courses....

The complication is our of our sons is in the process of moving to Seattle.
So a west coast swing might wind up in the cards.

Can't think about 2017 when our 2016 trip is a couple weeks away. We hit NC for a wedding, then on to Spain and Morocco, then Boston for 2 days on the way home. Been to Northern Spain once but this will be Southern, and never been to Morocco.

I am very interested in the Lost Dutchman Marathon as well, but I am already flying to Huntington Beach two weeks before for the Surf City Marathon and have the Run 4 Love the week after so three races in a row would be tough.

We are suppose to fly to Cancun for our 25th anniversary in late July. We plan to do our annual college reunion in Truckee CA in early July. I have a race n Tahoe in June and will spend a few days in Bend OR for a friends surprise 50th birthday party week.

The +1 signed up for the race, so we are on for that weekend in Phoenix. It's the perfect time of year weatherwise.

Not quite 2017, but the +1 signed up to run the Annapolis half marathon again, so we are headed there in Nov for our usual two-night stay at the Westin. Always a fun weekend. The race starts and ends at the Navy/Marine Corps stadium, which is very convenient to the hotel. And we walk downtown a lot from there. Plan to have dinner at one of our fave places (Café Normandie) with some friends of mine from way, way back (like 30 years). They have been very successful in the intervening years and own a fabulous home in Edgewater on the South River. Would like to visit them there sometime, too!

Driving up to Salem, Oregon for the August 21 total solar eclipse and hooking up with an Astronomy group there. We've seen and shot total and annular eclipses in Montana, Cabo San Lucas, Santa Catalina Island, Aruba, Munich, Puerto Vallarta, and St. George, Utah, but this will be the first one I will shoot through the big 8" Meade LX 200 scope.

Looking to book an early-2017 marathon. Likely Charleston. My wife and I are picking off the states, and we have not done SC yet.

For the runners out there, what is your favorite marathon?
