I imagine anything of that size, with potentially delicate fabric (the soft inside that is) would be a pain in the ass. Local laundromat, as recommended, isn't THAT big of a hassle. How dirty and how often are you needing to wash yours? Maybe its the lesser of your concerns.

I'm planning on washing mine for the first time this weekend. I have a large enough washer and dryer to handle it. Gonna use Fantastik like they recommend. I'll let you know how it goes.

I know 1Y2KS2K washed his car cover. The Fantastik stuff is pretty expensive. I think it cost him about $14 for a bottle of that stuff. It's not the same as the stuff you can buy in the store.

I talked to the people at Covercraft, and they said that if you can't find fantastik, to use Ivory soap. The problem with using laundry detergent is that it can mess up the water repelling ingredients in the car cover.
I'm assuming the car cover you're talking about is made out of the evolution 3 type material.

Here's the original thread about cleaning the Honda car cover, and where you can order the proper "Fantastik". (BTW. This is NOT the same stuff, or even manufactured by the same company, as the "fantastik" you buy in supermarkets!):
