I'm personally a fan of proof. Throw up some screenshots of emails exchanged, or get your friend to do it, whoever dealt with them. at least that way you can back up what you're saying.

We never got any calls or texts yesterday. We were at the shop all day.
We were told the kit would work. We were simply a middle man given bad info apparently. I told the guy to come bring it back yesterday. No one ever came. How can we refund someone who doesn't show up?
Not our parts, not our money, not our profit. Why the hell would we not want to refund you? makes no difference to us.
Come and bring us back the parts.

Wow. Broker a deal and then hang the buyer out to dry because you didn't do your due diligence as a reputable business man? A callous response like the one given is shocking.
I'm not one to be negative about vendors but I'm going to have to side with Mr. Chicken here. Hope you get it worked out OP.

Sorry, tesla...I see how that could have been taken out of context.
I meant that this sale had absolutely 0 gain for rsg. Now we've only taken a loss over someone who decided not to come for the return on the day originally agreed.
No phone calls, texts, nothing. I was there working on 2 cars all day.
I would not gain, nor lose if he came to return the part. It makes no difference to me what he wants to do with it. Obviously he didn't care too much yesterday or he would have at least called.
