NOS for the S2k - where to get & approximate cost?
I'm thinking about a conservative NOS setup for my S2k. Some years ago I added one to a prior domestic car and it was fairly easy. I've no idea what would be involved in doing one to the S2k nor if there even is a kit specifically designed for us.
Can anyone give me their experience in buying (cost and source) and installing one? Bare bones how-to would be nice. Have you been happy with the results?
Thanks for your help.

I emaled Nitrous Express about a month ago to inquire about a kit for my S2000. I specifically requested info on a direct port wet kit, here is the (short) response:
"the system we offer is a wet system adjustable 35-75hp part#20923"

Thanks Wes: Really appreciate your help. BTW, I've very much enjoyed the interesting technical posts you've done over the last year or so. I've learned a ton from them. Keep at it and maybe the rest of us will get a bit educated (at your expense

Wes,
With a direct port setup, and the fact that our pistons and rods are lightweight forged, couldn't we handle a 100 shot with a progressive system. I bought a separate manifold from Honda, had work done to it, and am thinking about putting a direct port before I install it. Your thoughts?

A NA S2000 should be able to handle a 100 shot easily, imo. You're going to be pushing a lot of low end torque if you don't set up a progressive system. The engine probably won't be the problem if you compare this HP/TQ to the FI applications. If you spray out of the hole you might snap some axles...but they're cheap.
I don't have experience setting up NOS systems, but this is my opinion with my current knowledge, do with it what you please. I plan on spraying my car one day, but not until I max out the boost, etc. By this time, I probably won't be able to just bolt on a 100 shot and spray it, going to have to do some research.

I wouldn't want to launch with a 100 shot of NOS, but if I used it for acceleration only, ie: from a roll, and not a stop, the axles would be fine correct? Also, is a progressive system a must for a direct port?

Different systems have different features. Venom, for example, has a chip that allows you to do a progressive shot like you're talking about. You can actually chose for the car to spool up like a turno, like a SC, or you can set your own spray type. I don't really know what other kits offer in this. Some setups can be triggered with a button. You can set it up to only run on WOT. You can also set it up to run on WOT but only when you're above XXX RPM (with a swappable fuse). Those are all mechanical installations.
Spraying a 100 shot while you're rolling should be ok. I don't think this would put much more stress on the car than a Turbo or SC slammed into 2nd at 55. Yes, a 100 shot of NOS has more torque in the low end, but would probably have less torque than I do at 8K-9K. This is all based on the theory that I've learned/read. I once again say that I have no real world experience with this, but I have checked my "understanding" with those who do...and they confirm that this is true.

If you have never used NOS, make sure you have a solid background and spare change to fix the unforeseen problems. Mechanically speaking, yes a 100 shot will "work" but the F20c is not conducive to such rapid changes in torque. Down shifting from a turbo or SC does not produce the same sudden thrust or spike in dynamic compression as does injecting NOS. Progressive is the way to go, or use Forced induction along with a mild (20-30hp) shot for cooling the compressed air. NOS on 4 cylinders for the use of hole shots are not a good idea...things tend to break and they are never cheap.
I have checked out the venom system, but I believe the price was about $1000.00. If I were to go with a NOS Setup, and buy a progressive controller, that would run me about $700.00. Is the Venom system worth the extra dollar? I have never met a owner of the venom system....
Alpha,
I have talked to many people about NOS, and they seem to agree that 100 shot can be accomplised in a F20C with no problems if used right. I never really slam the gears to downshift, but rev-match and down shift. If that method was used, would the torque still be a problem?

i have 75 shot of zex on my civic SI. i have the basic bolt ons , fuel management, etc. i ran a 13.7 with it. i dont hae TOO much experience on nitrous, but the zex kit activates at wot. as long as you're watching the egt and the fuel pressure you should be okay. of course changing the plugs and wires along with it. i went the safe route and got the whole deal (ignition, window switch, etc) but a stock civic SI can run 75 shots without a problem is ran correctly (i.e. not misshifting, not spraying after redline, not slamming into lower gears w/o revmatch etc) but if you have enough common sense to buy a s2000 you shouldnt' run into problems with running 100 shot with the f20c.
also, i do NOT recommend the venom kit for ihave seen MANY MANY cars run down because of the kit. i would definately suggest running the direct port nitrous from NOS and buying a few goodies to run along with it.
