The Lotus dealership in Atlanta has an Elise 111s for deposit holders to drive. I drove down there yesterday to drool and take some pictures. The guys there, Brandon & Chris, were very friendly and let my friend and I gawk and take pictures to our hearts content. They were also kind enough to take us for about a 10 minute ride each. What a treat! The car is simply amazing. Handling, as best I could tell from the passenger's seat, is phenominal. I was pinned back in my seat running through a couple of reasonably fun roads and the car felt rock-solid. The cabin interior was not noticably louder than the s2k -- probably a bit more quiet, actually. I can only imagine how much fun this car would be on the Dragon. The only negatives I can come up with are the tiny trunk space (see pic) and the small width of the cabin. You won't fit more than a couple of soft-sided bags in the 'trunk', which is beside the engine in the rear compartment. The interior is more narrow than the s2k and I was 'rubbing elbows' with the driver throughout the ride. I'd say the interior is about the same width as the miata I test drove, but that's just a rough guess. The whole car looks and feels much better in person. Reviews and pictures can't do it justice. That said, here goes:

A buddy of mine has started an elise board over at http://www.clubelise.net .

Only a year to go.

I've driven a standard Euro-Elise on several occasions. Nice car. My buddy has an Elise 190S (Series 1) and I have the Exige.

The bad part about the Elise coming here is that the S2000 may have to find a new home.

Wow, and I thought the S2000's interior was spartan.

Price is rumored to be $38.5k. Most likely, it's going to have the Toyota Celica GT-S motor w/ 190hp.

The S2000 is a luxury car compared to the Elise.

Nice pics! What's the weight of the car? What motor did you one you rode in have? I have the 2ZZ (Celica GT-S) motor in my Vibe and with a lot lighter weight and good gearing, I bet the 2ZZ would be a blast in the Elise!!
