Öhlins DFV Billet Lower Mount - Fix Your Ride Height Issues!
#11
"-Up to 50mm lower ride height as compared to standard DFV mount
-Adjusts to 40mm higher ride height than standard DFV mount at shortest height"
eh? how could this possibly adjust to 40mm higher ride height than the standard DFV mount? What is the actual range difference vs. the standard DFV mount? What is the minimum amount of threads engaged that Ohlins recommends with the DFV? I think they listed this in the user manual maybe? Does this lower mount allow the damper to thread all the way through the mount?

As this effect happens through the motion ratio, these numbers in terms of ride height become ~50 shorter & ~90mm adjustment range. Again these numbers are relative to the stock mount at its MINIMUM HEIGHT. As that is where the majority of people are set that is the most meaningful datum.

Although roll center adjuster will help lowering in the rear, they aren't really the tool for this job. They generally only lower the car by 12mm give or take where this provides up to 50mm for the best adjustment range possible. Also although RCAs help fix geometry from highly lowered cars, their job isn't to make the car highly lowered...

Depending on the spring rate yes absolutely. For a 7k (we don't recommend it but it can be done) spring which a decent number of people have used up to 30mm of preload is needed.
7k is approaching stock rear spring rate and the damper is much shorter stroke than the stock damper. Additionally the stock dampers have about 20mm of preload and are much longer stroke so it is not an unreasonable number.
We have had people come to us from other vendors with 7k springs who have terrible ride quality, after increasing preload to our recommended values it has been massively improved. With a 8k or less spring and 2mm of preload you are literally riding on the bumpstop 100% of the time. For more information about our preload recommendations check out our post on recommended preload settings here: https://www.s2ki.com/forums/s2000-br...nside-1166830/

Note the emphasis on "standard DFV mount at shortest height". The shortest the unloaded standard rear DFV can be is ~410mm (top hat to bottom bolt). This mount reduces that number to 378mm (32mm shorter) and has a 56mm adjustment range making the max possible length 434mm.
As this effect happens through the motion ratio, these numbers in terms of ride height become ~50 shorter & ~90mm adjustment range. Again these numbers are relative to the stock mount at its MINIMUM HEIGHT. As that is where the majority of people are set that is the most meaningful datum.

What is the max longest damper length with the shorter lower mounts?

Yeah we have seen those before but as they are in japan and not a big shop we were unable to find any information on them let alone attempt to order a set. Ours are made in the USA and readily available. Soon they will also be anodized the same Gold as well.

Minimum possible damper free length is 378mm (32mm shorter than standard mount), max is 434mm. For reference the standard DFV at min length is 410mm. The billet lower mount can get above standard ride height with any spring rate.

Very cool that a shorter and higher ride height is actually possible compared to the standard mount. The design of the standard lower mount definitely leaves a lot of room for adjustment on the table with how much space there is between the actual mounting point (bolt holes) and the end of the threaded area. So this mount allows the actual damper body to get much closer to the mounting point itself.
Definitely post up once you have a sample of the anodized version!
