I'd like to, but I have very little free time these days. I can't commit to anything.
Most likely I'll end up doing it in my garage one night. I've given up on finding somewhere to drop it off to get done.

Finally did mine. With the help of a friend it took two long afternoons.
Lost a lot of time due to the air compressor hose not working. Having to cutting down the valve spring compressor. Ended up using a hacksaw. Stuck keepers holy crap. And finally losing a new keeper and spending easily 45 minutes searching for it. It was behind my driver side tire.
All 8 on the intake side were cracked. Seems like the more cracked they are, the more stuck the keepers are.

eeeee that's not good. glad you changed them all out. i'm afraid to see what mine look like. but i'm more afraid of having a failure. if you don't mind me asking, how much did you spend in parts getting the retainers? did you reuse your keepers or replace them as well?

The ap2 retainers require ap2 keepers AFAIK.
I got all my parts from Majestic Honda. Got a couple extra keepers just in case.
8 retainers - $2.45 each $19.60 total
18 cotters (keepers) - $1.97 each $35.46 total.
So $55.06 plus a surprisingly large shipping and handling charge of $26.20. But I did get other parts in that order.
You might want to have a valve cover gasket and spark plug tube seals on hand as well.

I saw your post about your engine. Sorry I still don't know of a place for you to go. You need a leakdown test before you do anything and any shop should have an easy time doing that on an S. If you've got a compressor, you could do it yourself with a borrowed leakdown kit.

If anyone needs help with their S2Ks let me know. I do all of my own work and just rebuilt an entire Land Rover Discovery. I have a lot of tools to do most any job. Most I would charge is gas. I live up in Killeen. (616)644-2351
