99K on the clock is a lot of miles for the year, if you search the postcode and check the aerial picture it looks like a dealer or service place. It says no accidents so not a registered CAT C or D and it looks like it has both keys and fobs.
And a small rural town like that is hardly scamsville.

Could be legitimate or have stuff wrong that the seller is not telling. If it's OK a quick clean up proper badges you have a stock car worth a couple of grand more.

Edit - Looks like it had a front brace at some time, and obviously the badges and center caps are wrong, front end has been resprayed as the faux vents are silver not black and for 99k miles no stone chips

99k miles is NOT a lot of miles if you actually use the thing.

Yeah had noticed the badges, remains of strut brace. Seat is a little worn.

Hadn't noticed the gaps in MOT history, could have been SORNd at some point? Although can see that the mileage decreased between the two tests below... could it be an error by the MOT tester?
  • Test date 16 March 2011
  • Expiry date 15 March 2012
  • Test Result Pass
  • Odometer reading 85,470 miles
  • Test date 11 August 2012
  • Expiry date 10 August 2013
  • Test Result Pass
  • Odometer reading 84,493 miles
  • MOT test number 5892 7402 2254

99k miles is not massive. A car under 100k is naturally more appealing, these tend to be nearer the £10k mark though.

Looks to be on the side of a Ford dealership, so i would guess they shift cars taken on part ex separately. Not sure if this entitles me to car dealer warranty?

I wonder if the engine has been replaced at some point (as someone has already pointed out the white paint pen writing on the rocker cover) and they have changed the clocks to the ones which tied in with the replacement engine?

As my old dad used to say "if it looks too good to be true, it usually is".
There's plenty cars out there with good proven history.
Be careful, you could lose a lot of money here.

Risk is slim assuming the engine is all ok because its worth a few quid if you had to break it for parts:

Engine - £2500
Gearbox - £300
Rear Diff - £200
Headlights - £600
Rear lights - £350
Wheel - £300
Seats - £300
Bumpers - £200
Wings - £200
Boot lid - £150
Bonnet - £100
Centre Console - £200

Thats £5600 already with taking into consideration of the suspension and interior trim etc.

worth checking the engine number on the V5 to that on the block - not conclusive but there again, I'd wager not many owners update the V5?

It's also on the plate on the front in the engine bay isn't it?

So... car has had an engine replacement supplied by www.diymotorist.co.uk - would have nice if the seller has been upfront about this...

Not sure if a replacement engine is a good or bad thing. Apparently came with 3 months warranty.

I guess this is why its going for a little cheaper.

Feeling a little luke warm about this one now

Did he mentioned anything about why the mileage dropped between 2 MOT's?
