Did he mentioned anything about why the mileage dropped between 2 MOT's?
said he had no idea why there was the discrepancy.

to be fair every 10k miles in these cars can command a price of £1k....... similar condition cars 10k miles apart could be £1k price difference. so at 100k, no hardtop etc, maybe seats are a bit beaten up, etc. I wouldn't wanna spend more than 7k on that anyway! so its NOT THAT cheap IMO! now the engine replacement has been brought to light, that put people off and it seems the £6k price tag accounts for that.

Just go have a nosey if your not too far away. try and get more info on the engine etc. Geo / suspension condition... if that bays lookin at dirty as I does, I doubt (only a hunch) that the geo hasn't been moved for a while either!

Good advice and kind of my thinking at the moment. Its a 2hr journey so not round the corner. It there a way to check the geo bolts are still free? I guess evidence of a recent geo check is perhaps the only way?

Not really as such.... asking to see the most recent geo print off will help, and subsequent ones also... if he aint got a single one... well there you go! and also look at the results. This is only a guide though. Just ask questions pal

Ive just had to buy wishbones c/w bushes for mine as even with regular geo they do wear out after 13years after all! so the above isn't bulletproof lol... just be aware at that age its something you probs will need to look at

Hadn't noticed the gaps in MOT history, could have been SORNd at some point? Although can see that the mileage decreased between the two tests below... could it be an error by the MOT tester?
  • Test date 16 March 2011
  • Expiry date 15 March 2012
  • Test Result Pass
  • Odometer reading 85,470 miles
  • Test date 11 August 2012
  • Expiry date 10 August 2013
  • Test Result Pass
  • Odometer reading 84,493 miles
  • MOT test number 5892 7402 2254

99k miles is not massive. A car under 100k is naturally more appealing, these tend to be nearer the £10k mark though.

Looks to be on the side of a Ford dealership, so i would guess they shift cars taken on part ex separately. Not sure if this entitles me to car dealer warranty?
So it's had at least one haircut, then.

If you consider your worst case its that the engine lets go. a 99k engine isnt worth a packet unless it comp tests very well.

Suspension work is a lot of labour but also parts, if you can do it yourself its not a nightmare.

bad paint can be a bitch

given the above is it worth a 2hr trip? Maybe. I dunno what this would be worth with history.

Looks like the seller has sold the car and instead of having to pay ebay fee's for another advert he has 'updated' it with a 2nd S2000
