Default Exhaust Gas Temperature??

Hope someone might be able to help me with getting a reasonable exhaust gas temperature. Maybe a reading from a wide band?

I am designing a resonator chamber to be welded onto my exhaust for eliminating drone. Unfortunately the calculations take into account the temperature of the exhaust gas to calculate the speed of sound.

If anyone has any data on this, please would you mind sharing. As averages, I know it can vary in the region of 500 - 700 Deg C. This range is the difference between making a resonator to cancel drone and making a box with no purpose.

Thanks

There's a few threads on this if you have a search.

Thanks MB.
I did do a forum search, but came up with nothing.
Google search led me to some posts on here with the answers. So all sorted now.
Seems forum search function is not at its best.

For anyone with the same question.
Avg driving temps are around 650°C

These might be of help if you haven't found them already.

Just wanted to make sure my gas temp was in the right area to give accurate sound speeds.

All good and set now.

Exhaust gas temperature depends on a large number of factors however generally you should see 780-850degc on an NA engine and anything up to 970degc on a turbocharged engine.

Is this from measured data you have taken?

All readings I have found seem to indicate 650 at normal driving and up to 750-800 at high speed (Track).

As I am trying to eliminate drone at motorway speeds, I am using the 650 (At 3-4k rpm)

Most temperatures are taken close to the exhaust port and a maximum of 300mm is recommended so unless you are thinking of putting the resonator that close then you could probably half the figure that you are talking about, the gases cool pretty quickly in the exhaust. To get an accurate measurement you probably want to log the temps.

Not data taken from an S2000 but data taken from engine's running on dynos.

Figures I have mentioned are from WOT high engine speed.
