My 'track' car (which hasnt seen a track yet) has budget coils and they are very hard and overall i'm unimpressed. Maybe they'll suit the track but they are not great for the road and i think compromise grip at the back end
I would spend £100 getting it properly aligned by someone who knows what they are doing, they can tell you if anything is bent (something is on mine) and you can have a poke about seeing if stuff is siezed and the state of things like compliance bushes at the front.
People seem to like Ohlins, Nitrons and the like at the expensive end of coils and that's probably where i'll be looking next but I am wondering whether i need to sort out the problem on the back end first

These cars need nothing more "out of the box" than good tires which are easy to find. If you're unsatisfied with Extreme or Max performance summer tires then it's time to start buggering the car's suspension. 17" OEM wheels are very good. Read the tire threads. Worry about "unsprung weight" when you start finishing second in whatever national completion you're in.

No need for that just go out for a drive, park up and feel the wheels, you will know if you have a sticking caliper, it's the one that makes you go OUCH!

Ok yesterday discovered that compounding the issue of odd tyre brands at the rear, the nearside rear tyre was at 20psi!! Lolol Well after puting in the correct tyre pressures all round that has cured the swerving to the left issue under load. No idea why the dealer did not check that before selling! The suspension is still a bit soft and sqidgy on the 16" high profile tyres and 16 year old coilovers. But I have ordered some Rota Fighters, Bronze in staggered size 17x8 front (+48 offset) and 17x9 rear (+45 offset). Tyres are Nankang NS2R 120 soft compound in fronts 235/40/17 and rears 255/40/17.

I had a tiny puncture in one of my rear tires which caused the car to wander like on a high crowned road. Once the pressure was back to spec all was well. Radials make it nearly impossible to visually spot low tire pressure. The 2007+ have a tire pressure monitor (at least in North America). These drive my tire guy crazy when fitting new tires.
