Copart put the estimated retail value at prior to damage and categorisation. It is a bit confusing, they used to call it PAV (Pre Accident Value) but don't anymore.

just went through final bid of £6600, add in the fees and the buyer is at £7185.60 for the car before repairs. And its a registered CAT D! Whoever bought it has massively overpaid imo. It may be low mileage but once its repaired its still a cat D in the end. It went on approval aswell so didn't even reach the sellers reserve! Seller is as much a dreamer as the buyer.

If you'd got a fire damaged car that hadn't gone through insurance OR you were prepared to sit on the parts to sell them off over time you might make a profit, eventually .... but agreed, i reckon that's a good 2 grand over what it's really worth.

I've stripped 4 so far and average sales over the 4 has been £7116.47. Can probably compare this one to the 55 plate GT with HT cat B that i stripped that had no damage whatsoever, bodywork interior and mechanical's were spot on. Total sales from that car came to £7915.55 and still got just under £4k of parts still to sell. Average profit on each car has only been about £2.8k and thats been getting the cars at nearly half the price of what that just went for. No money in that car really to turn a profit in the short term. Will take a while to get their money back on that if they're stripping it for parts. And if putting it back on the road then they're not going to make money on it either unless the seller is buying for themselves.
