Default Wiring in Kill Switch

Can anyone show me there kill switch set ups. I have wired mine in but its only killing the battery and not cutting the engine out. Its obviously still drawing power from the Alternator.

I have a 2 post switch, so i have just ordered an FIA 4 post. Id just like too see how you have wired it up from the Alternator to the kill switch.

A few other questions:

- What gauge/thickness wire should i use from the Alternator to Kill Switch?
- Where can i get the resistor from and what type do i need?
- Do i have to wire up the ignition switch & coil, or is that just for anti-theft?

TIA

Here's your resistor you wont get exactly 3ohm as it's not a preferred value this one is a slightly higher wattage, but better higher than lower, try to bolt it to the metal work to keep it cool. -

As you know the S has four coil packs not a single coil, so don't try wiring them in directly.
You will need to wire the ignition circuit at the key barrel, this should kill the power to the coils and the fuel pump. Don't use the start switch as it's not a start/stop switch.
Do an internet search for FIA master switch wiring diagram, there's loads of info out there. If in doubt find someone who knows what they are doing to help like MB.
My guess at gauge of wire from the switch is the same as comes from the battery to the switch, pretty heavy!
Here's a better diagram with info at the bottom of what's going on.

Thanks mate. I found a bit more info on here.

I just need a wiring diagram or if someone could tell me which wire is the main power wire from the ignition switch to the ignition coils i need to cut into.

I wired one up today. From what I understand of the wiring (very little) you don’t need to splice in to the ignition line. Thank to this post I read rob rob’s write up and he seems to agree with my theory -“ The switch disconnects battery and alternator power from the car and engine resulting in engine shutdown. A separate wire for the ignition cutoff like below is not required "

Ah OK, so the ignition switch is for more anti theft i take it? So not necessary. What about the ignition coils, what wire did you splice into for that?

As i said i didn’t splice into anything. All i did was route the three cables that used to go to the battery to one side of the main switch. I presume that one of those main cables runs the ignition. Obviously i then looped from the main power feed to relay 1 through the resistor to ground.

Quick anti-theft is as simple as cutting out the fuel pump somewhere along the circuit. My engine won't run without fuel.

Robinette's information is typically well documented. This is no exception.

SCCA approved cutout.

Chuck i think that Jake and I both wish to comply with MSA regs and have a switch that kills the engine instantly.

My switch is in place but the rest of the car is in bits so I can’t verify rob’s wiring just yet.

I have mine currently wired up like what you have mentioned but when switched off it does NOT cut my engine off. Therefore from what i can gather from the write ups and diagrams i also need to find the wire from my ECU thats supplying power to the ignition coils and add that to one side of the kill switch (as shown in the diagram i posted) to instantly cut the engine.

i just need someone to confirm which wire supplies the coil packs.
