Group Buy Rules
From 25/01/10 there are new rules in place for starting Group Buys, in recognition that there needs to be better controls in place to protect members of the forum.
The rules are as follows:
1. Group Buys can only be organised by paid up S2Ki members.
2. All group buys MUST have permission from one of the UK Moderators. Once permission is granted then a post can be made in the UK For Sale and Wanted section. This check is to ensure the points below have been considered. Any group buy threads posted without permission will be immediately deleted.
3. It is preferable to use an S2ki UK Trader or Site Sponsor as they are generally established companies, and regularly visit the site, which aids communications during Group Buys.
4. Guests will be permitted to participate in Group Buys. Although membership of S2Ki is not obligatory, we would suggest that if a guest has benefited, or is going to benefit, then they should consider purchasing membership, especially if they are saving more than the $20 membership fee.
5. The following details are required to be mentioned on the Group Buy post:
Product Description (ensure you are 100% clear on fitment for different models etc)
Price (including details of discounts / staggered discounts - please make people aware of delivery charges and if the product is overseas, agree how the taxes and duty will be handled)
Numbers required for the GB to proceed
Details of company supplying the products (who they are etc)
Company contact details (website / email / phone)
Group Buy reference so the company knows what discount to apply
Payment information (options available)
Closing dates (for the group buy)
Delivery dates (updated once orders are placed)
6. Payments for products must go directly to the company supplying the goods. Payments for goods MUST NOT go to the GB organiser.
7. In order to enable Group Buys from foreign suppliers, Monies relating only to UK Duty, VAT and UK-only shipping can be made to a GB Organiser (GBO) as follows:
a) The GBO has been a member for a minimum of 2 years or has made over 1,000 posts
b) The GBO should be known in person to other members and attended meets
c) Approval for this type of GB under a) and b) is at the moderators' discretion
d) An estimate of UK Duty, VAT and shipping costs is to be provided in the thread use This site - UK Duty Calculator for an estimate
e) A scanned/photographed copy of the UK duty and VAT statement is to be posted in the GB Thread
f) All payments to the GBO are to be made via PayPal - no exceptions
g) Insurance covering the full value of the goods is to be arranged for UK shipping
h) Tracking numbers are to be provided to participants upon shipment
8. S2ki does not take any responsibility for the success / failure of any Group Buys. People are advised to check that the company being used for the Group Buy are acceptable to them. The Group Buy organiser should not be held responsible for any issues with the Group Buy company. Please see the For Sale rules for information and advice on payment protection.
