Default Looking for an S2000 after... almost 10 years.

Hey guys,

I have been working in Asia for the last 10 years, moving back to Vancouver very soon and was looking into getting another S2000. It seems on Craigslist there aren't many options available. Any advice? Should I look at importing one from the US or just wait it out?

Mid-winter ain't the most active market for roadsters. Sounds like you're still in HK so there's no rush. I'd not buy an S2000 someone has been driving in the winter anywhere north.

Canadian dollar is very weak in the US at present so keep that in mind when looking. I rarely look on Craig's List for cars. Autotrader will have many, just depends on distance and the arrangements for import of a US car.

You could also look on the "for sale" section on this website. I just listed my 2009 with 23,000 km's and I'm in Calgary.

There aren't too many around. The US might not be a bad option for you, the exchange rate won't be as much of a concern for you if you've been earning HKD. Good luck in your search!

Not too many options locally right now... if you don't mind going to other provinces I think there are a few decent looking options:

That way you aren't exposed to the weaker CAD right now and also you don't have to import from US, just register with BC instead.

That 2009 Apex Blue in Winnipeg looks nice!

Most people are only willing to pay what the cars were going for back when there was a recession 7-8 years ago. Problem is, the cars have gone up since and owners are pricing them accordingly. Prices have gone up States side as well. Doesn't make sense to import one with our dollar being where it is as it will cost you 50% more when everything is factored in. Wait? For what? Supply of low mileage, unmolested cars is drying up. If the trend continues, you may be kicking yourself for not buying at these prices. And then again, you may be the person that gets the buy of the year later on. That's life I'm afraid. Good Luck.
