The big question is if it will be a competitive tire (cheater) like the re71 or just another pretty grippy street tire.

The 71R is an evolution of EP tires. Tires become obsoleted because one manufacturer comes out with something that breaks new ground all the time. In 2002, BFG KD's were revolutionary. They were surpassed bt RE01R's and Direzza Z1's and RS2Z212's...and we're all better off for it.

I wouldn't say 71R's are "cheater" tires. They just happen to be more sticky initially.

Hopefully the RS4 will match or exceed what Bridgestone has done. Or maybe the grip will not be as tenacious...but the life and consistency will be the payback.

Hopefully not. The RS3 was one of the "go to" track day tires for long life and decent grip and heat management. Not everyone wants tire who's primary focus is on lap times.

Idk. Didn't really have issues with heat management on the 71R once they wore about 1/2 way.

I do HPDE sessions and time attacks.

I ran my PB twice in the same event....both at the 2nd to last lap of like a 15-20min session. I've run up to 25-30 mins...and then noticed a little grease. Or maybe I was just bored.

They're not an enduro tire for sure. Just like a screwdriver isnt a chisel (or so they say).

I think the 71R is a great track day tire, but if you're serious about competing, I've been told you simply take the points and run Hooisers.
