Default High end wheels v stock

I have an ap1. I am running ap2 v3 wheels and S04 tires.
I do not track at all. I do a good deal of spirited driving on winding country roads.
Will I notice a substantial performance difference if I upgrade to high end wheels ala Volk CE28s and the like?

Considering you have AP2 V3's (heaviest s2000 wheel made) yes, you will feel difference performance wise if you switch to a lightweight wheel. Doesnt have to be "high end" because even "high end" wheels can weigh quite a bit. I daily 17" Volk SE37k's on BG goodrich g force comp2's (one of volks lightest 17" wheels) but I track on OEM Ap2v1's (I believe lightest of ap2 wheels) with Toyo R888's and I feel the weight difference. Acceleration feels better with the volks on. But that would be with any lightweight wheel setup. Is it substantial? I dont think too much. Especially considering that weights are within a few pounds of each other. But on other end of spectrum, I used to have a set of Work VS-XX 3 piece wheels, and they were heavy as shit. I dont remember exact weights, but they required some effort when mounting them in driveway. That was a substantial difference. Acceleration suffered alot. With those wheels, it felt like I was driving with car major heat soaking. I got my Volks for cheap. But if i were to buy them new at $2500-3000 a set, could i justify that cost for street performance? I say no. There are other light wheels for fraction of cost.

LIke many, I like the look of the Volk CE28n wheels but I find it a bit hard to swallow the price given the nature of my use. Are there good light wheels out there that have a similar look and that have a less breathtaking price tag?

First two wheels that come to mind are the WedsSports TC105N and the Enkei RPF1. Those can be had for much cheaper than volk, but still very light and strong. Though to get the look of a CE28N its hard. Unless you go rep, and you should never go rep.

I've always wanted a set of Volk TE-37s but the price of new rims and tires does make it hard to swallow, and at the end of the day I won't save any weight over my current rims.

I've switched from Ap2 v3 rims to lighter rims and the car is more responsive but is it a huge difference ?, no not huge. Perhaps dedicated track drivers would notice more than me driving on the street. Though I have noticed a bigger difference moving to stickier tires with stronger sidewalls. You will notice more of a difference/benefit just swapping tires on your current rims.

yes there is a different when you go from stock rims to light weight rims. You can save about 5 pounds per wheel from doing this. In terms of performance and acceleration this has got to be one of the worst bang for the buck mods out there. 99% of the people to buy rims do it for the looks or for the extra width to run wider tires. The weight savings is just an added bonus.

What about Advan RSII? Are they light? How is the quality?
I have a quote for Volk CE28n - over 3K. Yikes.
My tires are max performance summer tires and I don't think it makes sense for me to move to extreme performance tires.
Maybe just stick with what I have.

Good idea, while my experience in the matter is from a miata given the similarity of the two platform's I'll advise the only difference you will notice is in your bank account.

With a low torque 4 cylinder non turbo engine you will fell the difference in lighg weight rims. With higher power engine you won't notice anything when going with lighter rims.
