What size for custom 17s

Default What size for custom 17s

Looking to order a custom set of Forgestars F14. They offer 8.5, 9, 9.5. Was thinking about getting the 9's and running staggered 225/255s. Fenders rolled but not pulled. Lowered about 1 1/2". Wondering what would be a good offset to get.

17×8.5 offsets from +6 to +50
17×9.0 offsets from +12 to +58
17×9.5 offsets from +19 to +65
17×10 offsets from +25 to +72

(I don't track my car so not much fear of them cracking under high stress.)

To clarify, you want to run a non stag 9" but stagger the tires? What is your visual fitment goal? Stock looking stance? moderately aggressive? or cant slide a sheet of paper between the tire and fender flush?

Once we confirm your wheel and tire width, we can select the right offset for the look your after, since your not after maximizing with a performance set up. Just keep in mind, even though you want to run a non stag wheel width, my suggestion very well may be to run a staggered offset to get these to visually sit right on the car, so in that case, you may want to consider going ahead with a staggered wider rear wheel, since it would be in vein anyway. I mention this, because in order to run a 9" up front without pulling, your going to want to run the max +58 offset, but putting that in the rear is visually not going to barely look more aggressive then stock, but front will. Generally a 10mm more aggressive offset in the rear for the same width rim sits about even, especially when considering the typical cambered street alignments of less camber up front.

Personally, if I were making the selection on my own car here with your list of options, id go for the 9"+58 up front with a 235/40 or 245/40, and a 10 +58 for the rear with 255/40. Visually this would be moderately aggressive and will look quite good. It would be better performing over stock as well, whether its used and appreciated or not, its something I always strive for when making modifications to this car.

Would the 8.5/9 wheel stagger be better? I picked 7x9 square because that is what I saw from the te37 (17x9 +40) thread down below (I was considering these too). I am not sure I want to go with 17x10's because the resale might not be that easy if I decide to sell in the future.

My current alignment is -1.5 up front -2.5 in the rear I believe. Running the common pf01's staggered setup. I would consider running a non staggered setup if it can be fitted without pulling the fronts.

Visually moderately aggressive is good, not much poke, not too much camber. I think my 1 1/2" drop is as low as I should go because my mountain roads are not the smoothest.

With your criteria, my original suggestion still stands. Personally, having my pulse on things s2k related being here a wile, I think the 10" is actually more a selling point, especially with the offsets I suggested, it would broaden the market into the race/competition guys. You shouldn't have any issues selling these in the future. Visually and performance wise, 255/10" is where its at. If you dont mind pulling your front fenders, you could run this same 10 +58/255 up front as well for a squared set up. Its what I have up front on my car.

Just edited my post right when you responded. 245s on the 9 +58 can fit in the front without a pull? Will I have to raise the car back to stock height?

Depends on the tire brand/category, it will be very close I will put it that way. 235/40 would be the safe choice, but your limited on tire selection in that specific size, unlike 245.

I ordered and am running the 17x9 +58 wrapped in 255/40/R17. You should have no issues rubbing with the standard fender roll and tab relocation with this offset.

Should be fine. Will need to run some camber and relocate the bumper tabs. MIGHT need a roll but I doubt it unless your less than 13" hub to fender.

Awesome thanks guys. I'm getting an aftermarket bumper painted and blended, so I'm having them roll the fenders while they are at it. Kenny, what height are you at and how much camber are you running? And final question, I was thinking about their Bronze Burst on my Rio. Good choice?

I'm currently lowered about and inch and a quarter lower than stock on Bilstein PSS9 coilovers. Have not gotten a final alignment as I'm replacing some worn suspension components this week, but I will get one by end of week and will let you know what we end up at. That being said, you won't need any crazy camber to make these wheels work if you stick with the +58 offset.

I think the Bronze Burst would look great, it looks amazing in the photos I've seen.
