Ive driven mine last winter and going to drive it this winter again. Snow tires are pretty much a must. If money isnt a issue you should get a beater but its do-able in a s2000.

Last year I got my Firestone Winterforce(the same ones drkphnx is selling) on tirerack for a pretty good price and im really happy with them. A lot of people go with Blizzaks but ive never had them so I cant say if theyre better or worse. Right now tirerack doesn't have a lot of winter tires, I guess as it gets closer they will add some.

I'll throw in my 2 cents. The S is fine in the winter if the snow is 3" or less & as everybody else said, snow tires. I drove the last 4 winters with no issues.
I've got Blizzaks & they are mounted on some 16" EP3 wheels 205/55/16 just to give you an idea. It's actually a very capable car in the winter & a lot of fun. It's also pretty gratifying to pass a silly SUV that's struggling in the snow. Welcome to the area & hopefully we will have another mild winter.
