Audi withdraws from LeMans Series for the year of 2009. Who’s next?

http://www.originalturbosdirectltd.co.uk/Marketing%20Pics/Audi/Audi_R10_TDI_LeMans_a001.jpgIt is not good news for racing fans. Following Honda’s official statement and withdraw from Formula One activities, here comes Audi and will no longer have a works team in the LeMans Series in 2009.

Yet again, one of the reasons for the nine consecutive LMP1 championships winner, is the current economic conditions that Audi’s racing leader Dr. Wolfgang Ulrich is facing. No more American and European LeMans Series for Audi.

Global economical crisis to the automotive industry is now reflected to the racing and competition industry. Is this a solution by car manufacturers to reduce expenses?

If yes, we should no longer be surprised but just wait for more to come, unfortunately.
