-- it's been a great run for the s-2000, sad to see it go - i truly enjoy the car - as we all know, there is nothing else on the market like it - hopefully it will just be a pause in the corporate mindset, but sadly the economic times have certainly changed, and warrant honda to make some, possibly unpopular, decisions - there's still time to find some leftover 2008's, and probably at decent prices too - time to seal one up in storage somewhere !!

If production of the S2000 is indeed ending, I will soon be buying what will be my 3rd one to own. A review of performance numbers makes the s2k a no-brainer for any true sports car enthusiast. Lighweight, high-revving, rear wheel drive, limited slip, rigid chassis, close ratio 6 speed, 0-60 in the low 5's, 1/4 mile in the high 13's, slalom at 70 mph, breaking from 60 less than 120ft, and I could on and on... I'm in love.

I for one am so glad to hear this. I have a Comptech S/C on my car and it is basically perfect. My 7 year old AP1 has yet to hit 30,000 miles (maybe this spring) and unless Honda released a successor that was better (>300whp, <3000lb) I plan on keeping it indefinitely. Now that there is no successor, all the more reason to keep my money in my pocket! W00t!

Reminds me of a top speed comparison that Road&Track did between the flagship cars from Ferrari and Lamborghini. Both cars performed exceptionally well with the Ferrari winning top speed honors.

The author stated that sadly these types of cars would soon be a thing of the past as fuel prices continued to rise.

Did I mention that this was Febrauary 1982???
