It was back in December of 2008 when GS Yuasa and Honda signed a basic aggrement to establish a joint venture company that will manufacture, sell and conduct R&D for high-performance lithium-ion batteries for applications with a central focus on hybrid vehicles. The contract was signed and the name of the joint venture company is Blue Energy Co., Ltd, which planned establishment date is set on April 1st, 2009. The capital ratio is 51% of GS Yuasa Power Supply Ltd. (a wholly-owned subsidiary of GS Yuasa Corporation) and 49% of Honda Motor Co., Ltd.
