Ten years of the Honda S2000 production and a farewell to the last S2000 produced

Photo After ten years of production, the Honda S2000 will no longer be produced. On August 7th, 2009 the last S2000 was produced and the production line was shut down. An emotional day, many of the S2KI community might say. We don’t have an official number yet of how many S2000 in total were produced all these ten years. But we shall wait and see for Honda to let us know just as they did with some information they gave us during an exclusive visit at Honda’s Suzuka factory, on a very special trip to Japan.

The S2K has been one of my dream cars ever since I saw my first one in 2000. It took four years of waiting and I finally got my hands on one in February….and I’ll never let it go!!!

(Unless someone out there wants to trade me their Laguna Blue one for my Sebring Silver AP2) LOL ;)

I’ll admit it, that for years, I thought I wanted a Mazda Miata. I test drove one in 1990 when my first kid was born, got cards and Hot Wheels Miatas from my kids. Everyone knew I wanted one, but it wasn’t to be when I had a family to raise. Then one day in April 2010, I saw not one, but two Honda S2000 roadsters and I knew I had to drive one for myself. I was sold that day and come home with a low mileage 2001 S2000 as happy as a clam in its shell. I am very happy with my Honda roadster. I was saddened to learn that Honda just discontinued production. May the S2000 live on!

I just changed my name to Mark W to differentiate from the previous Mark. I’m the one with the Miata to S2000 conversion story.

I’m new to this forum. I posted using my first name only, and saw that it could be confused with a previous Mark, so I changed my name and the original story got deleted. I was a Mazda Miata fan for the longest time and thought I would always end up with one once my family was grown and gone. But one day this year, I saw two Honda S2000 roadsters zooming on the city streets and I couldn’t keep up they quick spurting through the traffic. So I decided to stop at a Honda dealer to see what they had and low and behold, I came home that night with my wonderful low mileage S2000. What a joy to drive this baby. I was saddened to learn that Honda discontinued the ragtop. It’s a favorite vehicle of all time for me.
