259,000 miles, looking good and going strong!

Many of us treat our S2000s like garage queens, yet some of us like to drive them as if we stole them, piling on several miles and smiles. Ever wonder what the lifespan of an S2000 engine might be? While We don’t have official figures for the highest mileage ever achieved on an S2000, a small photoshoot may have exposed not only the beauty of I<3myap1′s S2000, but also the remarkable figure of about 260,000 miles on the clock (Editor: per member claim. Click here). As of this report the car is still going strong!
You’re probably wondering about the maintenance that has been done to the car so far. Here is what I<3myap1 has shared with us:

“My badge from the front is from my friends NSX, but I think its the Integra DC5 badge. As far as maintenance goes the car has been pretty much perfect. I have replaced both rear hub bearings at about 140,000 miles. The rear passenger axle at 220,000 miles. Replaced the TCT at about 120,000 even though it wasn’t making noise. Have done 2 valve adjustments. Oil changes every 2,500 miles which is about every two to three weeks with either Royal Purple or Mobile One 10W 30 with an OEM filter and the transmission/differential at around 10,000 to 15,000 miles. I replaced the PCV valve at around 130,000 even though it was fine. The car is still on its original water pump and timing chain and so far no leaks. I’m on my 3rd clutch already, but overall the car has been awesome, no complaints at all. Well, what can you expect, its a Honda!

Definitely a well maintained S2000, for sure and an inspiration to all. Kudos to I<3myap1. Are there any S2000s out there with more miles on the clock?

I Can tell you that seeing it in photos does this ride no Justice. Ive ridden in this car numerous times and to my surprise it runs and looks better then most S2000′s that have reached the 120 to 150k marker! This Car is emasculate and it just goes to show that you dont have to baby your S and make it just a weekend warrior. Rather you can drive it like you stole it and love the experience as long as you take care of it. Even with minimal maintenance. Consistency I think is what has allowed this car to be in the fighting shape that it is. Props to you Sir.

Great knowing there are some high mileage babies out there :) Mine will probably be one of them. I racked up 42K in less than 3 years on my first S.

Anyone with a high mileage S would be more than welcome to post their stories at http://www.HondaBeat.com

That’s impressive I mean many cars will last with proper care but I would usually expect less from a high strung 4 cyl. My truck is at 153478 and I feel that is fairly high but it runs like new other than a single squeek offroad likely due to a loose screw or worn suspension or something.

I guess I have nothing to worry about.

I purchased at 21,900 and am now at 22,600. It’s been 3-4 weeks.

    LOL.

So during this time you used 572 quarts of oil – and counting?
    A waste of your money!
Using a quality oil you could have done it with 90 quarts.
Oil changes every 3k miles is a waste – in every way.
I hope people do not start copying this behavior just because you have made it this far without engine trouble.
It had nothing to do with the oil – 100%
    Oh well….

I have a garage queen Red 2008 S2 with 3400 on the OD. Can’t get out on the weekend and I don’t like driving it to work because the employees leave dents in my Civic. I haven’t driven the car in over two months. I miss my S2 and I see it every day. Smells new too!
