At the risk of being repetitive, we bring you yet another Top 10 list that the S2000 has made it to. There are top 10 lists and then, there are top 10 lists. What we mean is there are those that hit the nail on the head and make you think, “Golly! That’s what I was thinking too”, and then there are those, that try as they may, usually miss the proverbial nail and end up smashing their thumb.
Top Gear (UK) is a well-respected automobile media outlet and I’m sure several of us have pledged allegiance to the antics of Jezza, Hamster and Captain Slow. An entire generation of petrol-heads has come of age watching the show, and by virtue of our adoration, Top Gear has become an influential automobile media juggernaut.
Top Gear Magazine, an offshoot of this enterprise has just compiled a list of 10 run-out specials – a list of cars you must get your hands on before they are confined to the annals of history and the S2000 has made it into the list at Number 10.
In the December issue of Top Gear Magazine, the limited production Honda S2000 Edition 100 is featured in a list of 10 cars that will be running out, including the Pagani Zonda R, Porsche 911 Speedster, Koenigsegg CCX-R Edition, a pair of Bentley’s and the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR.
Although the narrative accompanying the text expresses Top Gear’s admiration for the S2000 and all it is capable of, the Edition 100 is deemed unworthy of its £ 30K price tag. While we are evenly split on whether or not that determination is fair (being such unabashed fanboys as we are), we’d like to know what you think?
Is the (UK only) S2000 Edition 100 a deserving send-off to our beloved little Honda, or is it a case of badge engineering to save face as Top Gear seems to opine?

I honestly dont think the edition 100 was a fitting send off the addition of a plaque, different coloured paint, different coloured wheels was disappointing. I was expecting it to have a bit more bhp possibly utilizing an improved exhaust system or at a push a type r model

I bought my S brand new in 2008. I paid USD 28K. I test drove, BMW 335i, Z4, and a Nissan 350Z. I bought the car with the best value. I’ve put nearly 50K miles in 2 years. Car runs like a champ. Surprises me how responsive it is given four cylinders. Bottom line is im never getting rid of this car–period.

I DO own, and will Always own my 2003 Honda S2000. It is THE finest car I have EVER driven OR owned. It deserves a place in the top ten cars of the decade, if not EVER. It, with it’s 225 BHP , 9000 RPM, pump gas, 4-cylinder powerplant–ROCKS-the-ROADZ. It handles like a roller-coaster-on-railz, stops-on-a-penny, and sounds great all the while. As far as cars go, I AM IN LOVE !
