Featured Video – The Driver’s Mecca

We have all heard tales of the Nurburgring, have seen cars being tested or setting lap records. Sir Jackie Stewart labeled it “The Green Hell” for the toll it took on several lives. Over the years, modern safety standards and changes to the layout have improved safety, but the Nurburgring continues to be a cruel mistress. Several crashes are known to occur and The Ring continues to claim lives. All that said, The Ring remains a mecca of sorts for the enthusiast driver. Several of our members have visited there and come away besotted by the allure of The Ring and shared with us their exploits. Our member mattxx and his friends went a step further and compiled a mini-documentary narrating their journey that began from the Donnington Park Circuit all the way to the Nurburgring. The video does not end with simply showing us a single fast lap, but immerses us into the complete experience that is the Nurburgring. To our knowledge there is no video out there that provides as vicarious an experience as this one, and for that we convey our wholehearted thanks to mattxx and his friends. We are certain that Sir Jackie would approve.

Click through to watch The Driver’s Mecca and be sure to leave a word of encouragement for mattxx and friends.

A beautiful journey to the greatest racetrack in the world. Gorgeous video taking and editing, serene music, capturing all the essence of the RING in one video. Friendship, family values, automobile and motorsport enthusiasm are all displayed perfectly. Hopefully Dave’s MR2 got out of that incident unscathed. Cheers to you guys, your life are complete!

    One heck of an experience!

Living on the other side of the world, I can only hope to experience something like this. It’s definitely one of life’s checklist items for me, and I dream for it to come true.

Good job, very well put together video.

Thank you Aidid, SpooN-Fed, and Seth. Dave and his MR2 got out okay. He is back in the States now and I’ve sold the MR2 to someone in Portugal. He has a very nice well kept car now but unfortunately it will be used as a parts car.

Seth, a friend of mine here has said the same. Well he teared up a little in the manliest way. There’s nothing wrong with that. I feel the same.

I am fortunate enough to lap Nordschliefe when ever I please. Words can’t describe and videos can’t show you just how amazing this track is. Nice job on this video!

Wow, absolutely breathtaking. The music, the cars, the track, all blended so perfectly. I hope one day I have the privilege of driving on The Ring.

AMAZING!!!! I’m hopefully moving to Italy in a couple months and should be there for three years. I hope to God I’ll have a chance to make it to the Ring at least one time. It would be incredible to drive it at least once.

I do like a bit of Piano, but it would have been nice to hear a bit more of the engine.

Thank for this excellent video! It was serene and inspiring. I appreciate the respect you gave the ring. In a car that makes the drive to and from work every day a joy, lapping the most incredible combination of twists and turns on the planet must have been the absolute drive of a lifetime. Revel in it, and again thank you for sharing.

I’ve droven on the ring like 15 times with my upgraded Del Sol VTI, it’s really great to do, allot very nice cars (you can see in the vid), and nice to ride the track. Its about 2 hours to drive from my home to the circuit, so its nice and I want to buy a year card for 2012 :D

Nice driving and a great video!

I have spent more time watching Video’s of other laps than I car to remember and never get bored. It’s nice to see where people push or back off etc. Driving it will be an experience to remember for a long time.

    Nice video
