S2KI mourns the loss of Dan Wheldon, two-time Indy 500 winner and 2005 Series Champion, this afternoon at the 2011 IndyCar Series finale at Las Vegas. His untimely loss is a shock to the entire racing community, and fans of racing world-wide. Several S2KI members were also present at this race to participate in the parade laps and to watch the race. Just as the rest of us, we are sure they would not in their wildest dreams have imagined that they’d witness the loss of a great racing talent. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family on this sombre occasion. Please feel free to head over to the Auto Racing Discussion forum to express your thoughts and sympathy for Dan and his family.

Just the thought of waking up, kissing your wife and kids, saying love you see you later and not coming home is the saddest thought i can imagine. I have lost many friends to one thing or another and its never easy…seems harder, so this story actually hits home to me…..R.I.P Dan
