Going Off-Road

Throughout history, plenty of performance cars have tested their chops off-road and on rally courses. And now that safari Porsche 911s are all the rage, we weren't terribly surprised to learn that a lifted Honda, dubbed the Civic Type OveRland exists, too.

Test Rig

We first learned of this amazing little toy thanks to Ralph Hosier Engineering of England, who's actually building it in conjunction with Honda U.K. The lifted Type R was commissioned for a journalist test event at the Millbrook Proving Grounds in Bedfordshire.

Lift Me Up

The first thing you'll undoubtedly notice is that the Civic has been lifted three inches and fitted with one-inch taller-than-stock BF Goodrich all-terrain tires.

Beefed Up Suspension

Underneath, it's also been fitted with custom trailing arm mounts and modified transverse links to handle the rocky trails we're guessing it'll eventually encounter.

Rally Ready

Those color-matched white wheels are the perfect match for this off-road rig, and make this Type R look like it's ready to tackle any sort of rally course you throw at it.

Upgrades Galore

Other nifty upgrades include wider fenders to fit the new rolling stock, a roof scoop to keep the driver cool, and a pair of spares mounted out back in case you get a flat in the middle of nowhere.

Bad News

This incredible little safari Honda isn't quite finished just yet, and it'll reportedly take another month for that to happen. Obviously, Honda has no plans to build a production version, either. But we can dream, no?
