S2000 fuel & running costs
Hello all.
Thinking of changing my Lotus Elise for a Honda S2000 and just want to ask how much you pay on average to fill up the tank from empty to brimmed and how many miles you get out of a tank.
Also, what are the running costs and reliability like? I'm guessing the reliability is second to none as it's a Honda but just want to ask people who already have the S2000.
Any info appreciated.
Cheers

It's approximately 45 litres to brim the tank, the car should be run on Super, do at an average of £1.46 per litre, that makes £65.70. You'll get an average of 240 miles out of that; drive like your gran and it'll go to 300 or so, drive like you stole it and you'll get a lot less.
As for reliability, the car has issues, a quick search will reveal most (suspension bushes being the biggest issue), but on the whole they are very reliable.
Hope this helps.

I think what took me by surprise was how some (most) genuine S2000 Honda parts are pretty steep (I was thinking there would be a lot of Civic/Accord common parts) but I expect similar costs to an Elise seeing as they are a relatively small production run too.

Having owned a elise sport 160, i would say it would be a lot cheaper to run a s. whilst the elise was a great fun car, reliability was always an issue, where as the s is a lot less likely to break in my opinion.

Hi
I previously owned a 2.2 vx220 and the S2000 has caused me less hassle in terms of reliability. I find that fuel economy is quite similar, always run on 97 RON or higher, although I did the same with the VX.
Much better for weekends away too, more space in the boot and a heater that actually works!

The S2000 is designed to run on normal 95 and there is no problems using it. It will perform better on SUL and you may find 95 to be a false economy.

I must have lead feet. 220 miles to a tank but I do have a cold urban run for half my morning journey and half the journey home. I guess blipping the throttle on the down change is using 10 miles of petrol.

Having said that, I ran my MY02 on 95 after the Buncefield explosion and I didn't really notice any difference. Though I don't generally bother worrying about mpg.

i get 200-250 miles urban, around 350 mixed & 350-400 longer journeys.
so far all i've had to change are consumables. i had a big issue with the hood but eventually forced honda to pay for a new one.
i believe latter cars (2009 onwards?) may have some fairly major issues with engines going bang.
