Anyone know how to change the parking light bulb in the headlight assembly of an MY02? Doesn't seem to be easy access to get at the thing. It's on the driver side.

I slid the overflow bottle out, but the hole doesn't seem to give me access to the assembly.

Hmm... I thought this would be easy, but do I have to start removing body parts to get at this?

Through the fender well. Pull rim and tire, pull 90 millon little clips, few 10mm jex from the air damn and you can get in there easy pease.

Go through the fender liner. Its that or pull the bumper and headlight.

Cut the wheel all the way, Pop 2 outer fender well clips, there is a PRE-CREASE so you can pop it open, see below.




Reach inside and twist the connector to free it.


As simple as that.

OK, guys, thanks for the advice. I've removed the rear bumper a couple of times on my S, but never anything on the front. OK, removing the fender liner it is!

Yeah, fender liner access is the way to go. And, make sure you get the right bulb. I screwed up last time. I didn't realize there were two bulbs, one that stays on all the time and another for the turn signal. Ended up blindly reaching in, replaced the turn signal bulb by mistake and only realized it a few days later then had to do it all over again.

Hehehehe! I hear you kenta. I realized today that the burned out bulb is on the passenger side, not the driver... I probably would've done the wrong side, for crying out loud!

We should start a thread on botched repairs.... My worst is the time I forgot to torque the lug nuts on the Volvo after putting on the snows (or summers, I can't recall).... That one actually wasn't too funny.

nothing worse than diving ass and elbows into a repair and realizing once you've disassembled things that you really don't want to be doing this.

I got close to this on my wife's car. I done the brakes once before. It was a nightmare and wound up having to pull the whole carrier assembly off to get the calipers free.
This time, I got the car up onto the jack stands, wheels off, started fighting with the damn Torx caliper retaining bolts and decided F&^% it, bring it to the shop.

The little parking bulb is a 168. I replaced mine the other day with a LED version. Much brighter. I have my amber diffuser removed so I'm not sure how much brighter they would be on stock lights. If you are lowered I would highly recommend taking the wheels off. I had a hard time getting in there but I was able to get it eventually with the wheels on.
