Free Modifications
- any lightweight parts that do not also enhance performance by improving power, aerodynamics, handling, etc.*
- any interior removal as long as it does not compromise safety*
- any alignment, camber kit, bump steer kit, tie rod end, roll center adjuster
- any bolt-on chassis braces
- updating or backdating OEM parts except CR performance-enhancing parts*
- aftermarket steering wheel: only if R/H/S are installed for driver (otherwise prohibited)
- passenger airbag removal: only if passenger seat is removed, or R/H/S are installed for passenger (otherwise prohibited)
- aftermarket brake systems, brake ducts
- any OEM or aftermarket sway bars
- any spacer on aftermarket wheels

S2000 CHALLENGE CLASSES

Stock Class - 0.5 points maximum
The purpose of this class is to keep costs down and be attractive to a newcomer with a completely stock S2000. Drivers of all experience levels are welcome. Tires are restricted to TW 140+ and no larger than 235/40/17 front and no larger than 255/40/17 rear.

Certain modifications are not allowed in Stock class:
- No Level 2 Front Aero
- No Level 1+ Rear Aero
- No Level 1+ Rear Wing
- No light-weight aftermarket parts, no aftermarket body panels, or any interior removal (unless necessary for safety equipment). If a Stock Class driver opts to install a hard-top and remove the soft-top and associated hardware, he must retain the spare tire to make up the weight discrepancy.

Street Class - 3.5 points maximum
The purpose of this class is to allow moderate modifications to a primarily street-driven car, as well as allowing CR owners the ability to truly "arrive and drive." Minimum weight for Street class is 2850 pounds with driver. Level 1 R-Compound Tires are allowed in this class.

Certain modifications are not allowed in Street class:
- No Level 2 Front Aero
- No Forced Induction
- No Level 2 or 3 R-compound Tires

Modified – 6.5 points maximum
Minimum weight for Modified Class is 2800 pounds with driver.

Super Modified - 9 points maximum
Minimum weight for Super Modified Class is 2700 pounds with driver. Participants of this class may use any ballast weights in any chassis (AP1 or AP2).

Novice Program
This class is designed for newcomers to the S2K Challenge. Novice Program drivers will be assigned an S2KC instructor for the day, to provide guidance and support. Novices will still compete in their respective classes, and score appropriate points within that class. There will be a separate competition among Novice Program participants, which will be based on a PAX system, where 1 point is equivalent to a 0.5 second penalty. To be eligible:
- One must have attended fewer than 3 S2KC events*
- One must run in beginner or low-intermediate group
- May not have any modification that result in automatic Unlimited classification, but may have points exceeding Modified-R Class limits.

***First time S2k Challenge/Speed Ventures drivers get 50% off of their first event!***

WEIGHING

Rules
Each class has a minimum weight: at any point during the day, a competitor with driver inside must meet that minimum weight. If and when a competitor is found to be below minimum weight, he will be penalized 1 second for every 25 pounds he is under the minimum weight. If this is the competitor’s first violation, the first 25 pounds will be allowed as leeway (for possible scale-to-scale variation), but he will be penalized for any further discrepancy. Also, if this is the first violation, he may choose to forfeit all laptimes he has accrued until the weighing process, add back weight to his car to meet minimum weight, and re-start new timed laps instead of taking a lap-time penalty. Any repeat violations will automatically incur the lap time plenty as outlined above.

Weighing Protocol
One competitor from each group (Street and Modified) will be selected at random to be weighed at any time during the day. The probability of being weighed is directly proportional to the number of points he has accrued throughout the season (for example, this is equivalent to adding one’s name in a hat once for every point he scores, then drawing from that hat at random). That means top drivers have the highest likelihood of being weighed, and drivers who have yet to score points will never be weighed.

Weighing Logistics
Two drivers from each class may volunteer or will be randomly selected to participate in the weighing process. Only drivers from a different class may weigh one class (to create impartiality). For example, if a Stock class participant is being weighed, only the two drivers from Street and two drivers from Modified may assist in the weighing process. All who participate in the S2KC implicitly agree to help with the weighing process if called upon, barring any extenuating circumstances.

PROTEST PROTOCOL
A competitor may also be spot-weighed if three peers (or at least half of the participants of that day, whichever is less) from the same class believe the competitor to be in violation of minimum weight. That competitor will be liable to be weighed on the spot. In addition, if a competitor suspects another is underrepresenting his points, he may bring his concern to a member of the S2KC Committee immediately, so that a committee member can audit the car at that point, and compare the setup to that declared on the signup sheet. If a participant fails the audit, he can choose to: 1) correct the violation and forfeit all a previous laps and redo timed laps for any remaining sessions; or 2) take a 1 second penalty for every 0.25 points he is over the limit.

Prizes
Prizes at individual events for each class will be awarded regardless of number of competitors in the class.
Year end prize winners need to have participated in atleast 6 events.

Changes are in Red.

TL;DR version:

- Wheel table resolution increased to 1/8 point increments
- All coilovers and adjustable dampers are 1.5 points
- Level 2 wings are now 1.5 points; Gurney and Risers/High mounts are 0.125 each
- Level 3 winsg are now 1.75 points
- Level 4 wings added
- All wings allowed in street class
- Aftermarket cams are 0.5 points (still must take penalty for ECU/tune, etc.)
- Street class point cap reduced to 3.5 points (forces participants to choose 2 of 4: wing, coilovers, square tires, r-compounds)
- Mod class remains 6.5 points.
- SupermMod class point cap reduced to 9 points
- 240+ TW tires get a negative one (-1.00) point.

??? Typo? Wheels larger than 10" now allowed, right?

Also, no different levels of wings? So, keep it simple, either stock, CR, or bigger... Seems like GTC-200 is no longer the bargain it used to be, although it's probably the only wing that can be used without a front splitter.

Ooops, yes that's a typo on the +. Wheels larger than 10" are allowed

Correct. However, we are also factoring in the fact that the GTC-200 was re-designed, and is more effective than before. Additionally, the 1S can be mounted very high, with a gurney flap and some angle, and make significantly more downforce than previously believed.

Wow it looks like ill only be at 4 events this year due to scheduling conflicts.

On the wing topic, I think Brians setup proved that the GTC-200 is not as different from the big wings as everyone thought.

I thought Brian had the GTC-250...

I'm stuck with the "old" GTC-200, and do not plan to change it anytime soon. No big deal, there's a lot more driver time left to make up than their is in parts.

wow mod is 5.5 ... so if you want to run r comps in mod your nuts are chopped off with the changes to the gtc200.... i can see a .25 jump for that but .5 and the .5 change to coils is nut chopping

no square set up , wing and coils with r comps for mod ... seems drastic... everything seemed great until i saw that mod is 5.5 ,mod is basically street now lol

maybe mod should be 6-6.5 so the diff between mod and super mod isnt so huge and your mod car can still be tuned a bit... with the current changes and point drop a mod car is basically a current 4.5 car

255r
17x9
level 1 wing
r comps
hard top
coil overs

seems like a mod car to me, otherwise people will have to run cr wings in mod if they want to run nt01 or nittoz..... or super skinny front tires which wont make sense with a wing

Splitter + wing + square + coilovers= 4.5 points

Add 0.5-0.75 for wheels (17x9 or 17x10) and you're basically done.

So no NT01/RC1 in Mod class unless you give up something pretty major. Looks like mod class will basically be a spec class

Edit: was typing before Ringer posted lol, similar thoughts. Should offer NT01/RC1 as 0 pt tire for Mod class?
