Default Hardtop Stand

I finally got my hardtop stand built, so if you've been on the west side of Austin and saw a LBP driving around it will now be topless. We even painted the stand to match the car!

Looking forward to hitting some country roads on a cool morning soon, but I guess I better hurry up with that plan.

It required planning at each step but I used the design that has been on S2kI since 2002.

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/534...d-it-yourself/

Prices have gone up a bit since he did his price run and came up with $40, but it's still super affordable. I used 1" pipe instead of 2" pipe and brought the cost back down to about $60 including the sparkly spray paint

I've considered putting wheels on it, but it takes two people to remove it anyway, and then two people can pick up the stand and hardtop and place it in its final destination fairly easily. I might put wheels on it later but right now it's not an issue. I'd really like to put hooks on my wall about 7 feet off the ground and lift the whole rig up to that for storage.

I miss having a house. I had built a hoist for both the S2000 top and my Jeep Wrangler top. It made removal and storage super easy. For now we just have a single car apartment garage, so options are limited.

Nice... How does it keep from falling forward?

May just be the pic but it looks like it could easily tip forward. dont see much of an incline on it

I thought that too, but all the other people who posted about theirs said it worked fine and didn't require restraints. It was cheap enough to build that I gave it a shot - it's completely stable. I put a microfiber towel at each of the contact points and set it on level ground. It doesn't tip forward or back, even with a significant bump.

The Honda (TM) hardtop stand holds the top in a similar position, though slightly more tipped I think.

Hey everybody! I've bought a house and built a hoist in the garage so I no longer need my stand. It's free for the taking for anyone that wants it. It's just taking up space in my garage now. I'm even happy to deliver anywhere in Austin (I have a Jeep I can transport it with).

Let me know!

Certainly! I can drop it off tomorrow or some night during the week. Do you have a preference?
