the ones that I'd be willing to wholeheartedly rec and go back to are:

--Motorsport Techniques in Hayward (friends Ron & Kin own it)

--Robert's Tire in SF (been around forever, but not very conveniently located, as it's in Downtown SF/SoMa)

i have other friends and acquaintances w/shops, but i'm very careful about vouching for things/people. I've recently had work done at the above spots. they'll treat you right.

Dang $200 to mount and balance...... Your such a good man for just paying the $200. I would have refused to pay due to the damage. Thanks for the heads up about that shop. I heard of them but never been. Now I now know to never go.

well, i paid them before i found out they damaged my wheels. i was thinking of asking for a refund or at least partial, but like mentioned, i was pretty upset, so i just wanted to get outa there and put the thing behind me.

not that it matters now, but it was "only" $100 or so for reg mount and balancing. it was an extra $100 or so to road force balance the two rears.

i shoulda went w/my gut. they had/have good reviews, but i saw the kid that was working on my wheels. i shoulda made sure to give them a reminder to be careful w/them. at the least, shoulda inspected them w/them before and after. i was in a rush tho.

I'm still mad/bummed at my bucket, so excuse the halfbaked update. i finally got around to opening this gift though. got upgraded to a Valentine One, complete w/Bluetooth module (to hook up to cellphone), and SAVVY thing-a-ma-bob. Not sure what it does, but, hey, it's a gift! can't wait to use (or not have to really use it) #seewhatididthere

haven't been doing much to my S, as it's pretty much how I want it to be already. Only things on the wish/to do list are a Comptech supercharger kit, Stoptech or AP Racing big brake kit, and upgrade my coilovers, once my current Buddy Club N1s are toast.

anyway, I am a big impulse buyer of all things, so I caved and picked up a Koyo radiator. been meaning to do it for a while, as my S did turn 100k sometime last year and esp cuz I take so many roadtrips. besides, it's so dang pretty! Much thanks to Ryan at Moddiction (s2ki vendor) and Joey, Ben and Brian for the install, this past Tuesday.

was pleased that the Koyo is pretty much as advertised, a direct OEM replacement, which dropped/bolted right into the stock mounting points. Joey was concerned that the Koyo would be a little bigger than the OEM unit, esp on the topside. I figured I could just notch my carbon fiber cooling plate, but there weren't any fitment issues. Only prob was that the OEM radiator cap does not fit the Koyo, which doesn't come w/a cap. Fortunately, Joey had a cap in stock that fit. I ordered a Koyo high pressure cap. Wanted some JDM bling, but the Spoon, Mugen, etc ones all look pretty lame anyway. Basically, rebadged or stickered units.
