Headunits from all years have two ports in the back - one that connects to the car's harness for power, speakers, etc,
and one that connects to the optional accessory trunk-mounted CD changer and/or satellite radio tuner.
Early cars were not prewired for the changer - installing it required running the wire from the trunk.
Later cars are prewired, which is why your port has a plug in it - there's a (presumably empty) connector in the trunk.
That said, AP1 and AP2 headunits were made by different OEMs, and while they are plug & play compatible with
all car years, the changers and their associated plugs are different, so an aux adapter would need to match
the correct headunit.

Thanks for the info.. I did not know mine just came pre-wired and now I now which connector I need to look for and return the one I have. I was confused when I saw mine already had 2 connectors plugged in when I was expecting an empty one lol
So which adapter did you end up buying... I'm still confusted about which one to buy for my 2007.

Just installed this and it works great if youre trying to keep your stock radio. This one is for my samsung phone. They have an iphone version too if u got that. Oh and this is for ap2. The white/clear end connector is for ap2.

Whats the easiest/least invasive way to run the aux cord from the back of the stereo?
