My AP1 from 2001 came with Bridgestone S02Ws on its 16 inch wheels. I have always replaced them with whatever the Bridgestone retailer recommended. When they stopped supplying S02Ws they recommended RE001s. Later it was RE002s and now it is RE003s.
I'm a very happy with them.
Over the 18 years and 270000kms I have replaced the fronts 7 times and the rears 12 times.

Fronts 7 times and rears 12! I see these cars don't push understeer too much.
It seems that there's a bit of interest in s2k's again, or atleast the market is a bit bananas. I saw one sell recently with over 40,000km's for over $60k.

Hi all, reviving the thread.
As mentioned, I was active on this forum for most of my teenage years in high school. Now at the age of 31, I finally bought my S2000. It's a 2006 Grand Prix White AP2. Black interior. It's been a Victorian car for it's lifetime, and just clicked over 100,000km. I won't be clicking up the km's, but am eager to do a drive once Victoria has come out of it's Stage 4 restrictions.
So many happy memories here. I think about you all when I go tinker with the car in the garage. Currently nursing a dead battery and an alarm that won't stop.
I hope you are all well. I hope to bump into you on the road sometime.

I tried for the RE002's or RE003's. I was told no stock available, and a bit of a wait. What size rears did you end up with btw?

The reasons I went through so many sets are varied:
- 10 or so track days in the early years
- Wheel alignment being out can destroy tyres quite fast. Every time I get a wheel alignment I find they are out quite a bit and occasionally a lot.
- For predictable handling I use the original set of alignment specs, which includes 6mm of total toe-in at the rear, but that is quite tough on the rear tyre wear.
The least was 22K on the fronts and 6K on the rears (wheel alignment out).
In the early days I suppose I gave it a hard time but the last 150K I have driven quite sedately.

Time to day goodbye. After 19+ years I sold the S2000 back at the end of May to a nice young guy called Jason who I think will get a few more years out of it and also look after it well and keep it stock.
Now that I have turned 70 it's time to relax in something more comfortable.

Hi Wayne. Nice to hear from you again. It's been almost 20 years. I just logged in again myself for the first time in a long while.
Sad to hear if he has pimped it up (unless that was a joke). But it is his to do as he pleases with.
Me, I now drive a Skoda Octavia RS Wagon. It has the engine of a Golf GTI so the same 180kw that the S2000 had but almost twice the torque. Totally different proposition of course.
What I miss about the S2000 though is its absolute simplicity. The Skoda is full of electronic aids which have lots of faults. I have to reboot it occasionally, like a PC.

I kid.
Good to hear from you again.
I still have my S. Parked it outside my garage for two days and a truck ran into it. Been at the panel beaters for two months. I think of it as free storage.
